I’ve been using my character, Indigo, as an RP character for about a year now. He’s 23 years old in human years, he’s a human/dragon hybrid (for most of the RPs I have him in), and despite his seemingly cold exterior, he’s kind and has a soft spot for children. Recently, with a friend of mine, I’ve been playing him as completely human. And that led me to writing a flashback story about him and his childhood for a class I was in.
A couple hours ago, I was going through that story to see what was salvageable and to make some edits. I’ve always had a hard time picturing Indigo’s back story. As a dragon/human hybrid, I had a hard time picturing his place in the world and had an even harder time picturing the world and the laws within it. By making him completely human, his past became so much more clear to me. It became interesting and still unique. On top of that, feel that I’d be able to work out an entire story for him (he’s showing great potential in an RP I’m doing with a friend). How I had him originally, I couldn’t really think of a story for him. There were ideas for scenes and things that I saw happening with him, but none of them were really connected and none of them really meant much of anything to me. I didn’t know how I was going to string them together to create a story. But with the changes I made to him now, I feel that not only do I have an overflowing idea, but I have a lot more room to let the story develop on its own. I still have no idea where the story will go, but I feel that there is more importance to “this” Indigo’s story, like he really needs this story to be told to someone.
There’s so much I still don’t know about Indigo, but I am not worried like I used to be. Part of the journey of writing a story is to discover who it is that your character is. I have always tried planning my characters out before writing a story. Perhaps that is the reason I have such a hard time writing the stories for these characters. I slap so many limitations on them that I don’t just I have a hard time just letting the characters go and make their own story.
I could probably ramble on and on about this all day. I’m just happy that my muse has been recaptured and the my love for Indigo Daiskar has been reborn. :)

THIS is why I want to learn how to pole dance.
Pole dancing isn’t always sexual. It’s an incredible work-out and it takes a lot of time and practice. It’s one of the most scrutinized and frowned-upon forms of dancing, but it really shouldn’t be. The ladies and gentlemen who take time to learn how to pole dance are incredible- and so are their bodies! Pole dancing increases cardiovascular state, muscle strength, muscle endurance, motor skills AND flexibility. An average session of 45 minutes can burn 250 calories. You reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease, you increase your bone density, and decrease your cholesterol. How can pole dancing be seen as so horrible when it’s really, really good for you?!
